How to watch movies together when you are in a long distance relationship?

So, here are the steps you need to take to allow you to watch all your favorite series on any streaming service, no matter in which country you or your partner are located.

1) Download a VPN

First things first, due to the fact that you’re in a different country from your partner, you will need to install a VPN to watch the series or movie that the content is streaming from.

2) Set up a ‘Watch Party’

Next, set up (an intimate!) watch party. A watch party is a fun and creative way to enjoy sharing a movie or TV show experience with your partner, no matter where they are located.

There are 2 ways of doing this:

Zoom or Teams meeting

Our first suggestion is to use a video conferencing platform such as Zoom or Skype. This allows you to select a movie, synchronise playback and enjoy the experience without extensive technical needs.

It also allows you to see your partner’s reaction in real time, which always makes you feel like you’re enjoying the shared experience in a more intimate way. I'm sure by now everyone knows how to send a Zoom meeting but just in case you don't, to utilize Zoom or Skype, all you need to do is sign up for a free account and initiate (or schedule) a meeting. This will produce a link that can be shared with your loved one.

2. Teleparty

Secondly, you could use Teleparty. Formerly known as Netflix Party, Teleparty is a browser extension that allows you to synchronize your streaming service, so you can watch TV series and movies together in real-time, regardless of your location.

Although you won’t actually be able to see your partner, the extension creates a ‘chat room’ on the side of the screen where you can communicate with each other while watching the same content.
